200 employees to be hired at Sandals Royal Bahamian while 100 to be hired at Sandals Emerald Bay
NASSAU, BAHAMAS — As Sandals Resorts International (SRI) prepares to officially reopen its Royal Bahamian property that has been closed for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is hosting a job fair in conjunction with the Department of Labour to hire some 300 employees by the end of November.
Sandals Royal Bahamian General Manager Surinder “Lucky” Kahlon noted that the new staff will be in addition to a large number of team members who will be returning to work, for a total of some 850 people to be employed.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us,” Kahlon said. “We are out there looking to find individuals that can do the various areas like bartenders, dive operations, whether it’s the kitchen, management positions; we have quite a few open positions and we are actively seeking to find the right individuals for it.”

Director of Labour Robert Farquharson explained, “In February 2022, the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort and Spa is expecting to reopen… In preparation for this grand reopening, the management of Sandals has partnered with the Department of Labour and other stakeholders to identify hundreds of suitably qualified Bahamians to be hired by end of November 2021.
“To ensure the orderly retention and employment of personnel by Sandals, the Department of Labour has planned a job fair to be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 8am to 4pm at the department’s headquarters.
“The management of Sandals will be on site to interview and fill up approximately 200 vacancies for the Royal Bahamian resort in New Providence, and approximately 100 vacant positions at Sandals Emerald Bay resort in Exuma.”

Kahlon emphasized that Sandals “believes in offering long-term positions and ensuring that everyone grows from within”, adding that the company is maintaining a “pro-choice” stance on vaccination of its workers, such that they are not required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to be hired.
Additionally, Farquharson noted that representatives from the National Training Agency and Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute will be on hand during the job fair to give job seekers “an opportunity to sign up for any of the training programmes offered by these two government agencies”.
For his part, Minister of Labour and Immigration Keith Bell strongly encouraged Bahamians to take full advantage of the fair, urging them to “bring your resumes and be ready to be employed by Sandals”.
