Programme offers free upskilling for Caribbean professionals, promises job opportunities upon completion
BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS — The 2024 edition of an innovative accelerator programme is gearing up to welcome a new cohort of young Caribbean professionals into the tourism industry.
The Caribbean Tourism Career Accelerator and Remote Career Internship programme presents a unique opportunity for young professionals to launch successful careers in the tourism industry.
Global Startup Foundation (GSF), one of the partners hosting the programme, alongside organizations such as Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Labs, Google Cloud, IDB Cloud and others, recently issued a final call for submissions for this rare opportunity.
The organization added that participants who successfully complete the course can also receive $100,000 digital credits, along with a host of other benefits.
“As a member of our Caribbean Community, we are pleased to share the final opportunity to join this popular program powered by Global Startup Ecosystem and the Caribbean Future Summit in partnership with Inter Development Bank Labs, Google Cloud, AWS, IBM Cloud and more,” GSF said.
“The Tourism Career Accelerator (Regional Edition) is a multi-week workforce reskilling training and internship programme targeting young professionals ages 18-35 who are interested in a career in tourism.”
More than 100 tourism stakeholders, corporate partners and government affiliates from across the region are involved in and/or will take part in the accelerator programme.
Even better, it is being offered completely free of charge to young professionals aged 18 to 35, as long as they are a citizen of a Caribbean nation.
Additionally, applicants are not required to have a college or university degree, or any work experience to be eligible for the programme.
GSF added that the primary benefits of participating include:
- Free skills training
- Work experience
- Internship with a top tourism company, locally or abroad
- Potential job placement upon completion
- Alumni network for continuous annual training
- Business programming and other offerings
- Career opportunities
“Please note that top candidates will have a remote internship to work with one of our partner companies in tourism,” GSF added.
The Tourism Career Accelerator is the Caribbean's "first and largest Digital Career Workforce Programme, created to engage, train and prepare young professionals for jobs of the future in tourism”.
GSF is the non-profit arm of Global Startup Ecosystem, a tech recruitment company founded and led by Haitian-American entrepreneur Christine Ntim.
